Why take out Travel Assistance cover?
During a cycling trip you may suffer a mishap that prevents you from continuing your route. An insurance policy of this kind can help you to minimise the consequences. Broadly speaking, it covers you:
- In the event of supervening illness or accident, the Insurer will transfer you to a better equipped or specialised hospital near your usual place of residence.
- Travel and subsistence expenses for an immediate family member if no one accompanies you during the trip and you must be hospitalised for a minimum number of days. The limits of the subsistence expenses vary according to the insurance policy taken out.
- The cost of transporting the mortal remains in the event of death to the municipality of your home, and of a companion to accompany them.
- The rescue, collection and delivery of the bicycle to your home, with the limit established in the insurance policy.
- Compensation for total loss of the bicycle, if assistance is required, up to the limit established in the insurance policy.

What should I do in the event of an accident?
Once an accident has occurred, it is very important to remain calm, and if other people are involved, not to get angry and to be courteous.
- If there are casualties and the seriousness of the injuries justifies it, call the emergency services and police immediately.
- If road traffic is impeded move as quickly as possible, provided that no serious injuries are sustained, in which case the accident site should be signposted to avoid further consequences and wait for the rescue services.
Next, it is advisable to write down the names, addresses and telephone numbers of all persons involved in the accident (causer(s) and injured party(ies). It may also be useful to take some photos of the scene and the material damage that has occurred.
Subsequently, within a maximum period of seven days, you must inform us of the accident with all the information you have at the following e-mail address bici@omnibusbcn.com or call +3493241 21 38. We will then take care of the necessary arrangements.
In case you need an Assistance service, please call the telephone number provided with your insurance policy.

I am a member of a federation, is it worth taking out one of these insurances?
The truth is that it is worth it. The insurance you have as a member of a federation is complementary to these. Depending on the type of insurance you take out, you will have coverage that is not offered by your federation's insurance or that complements and extends it. In addition, the Cyclist Insurance is individual, so some coverage limits apply only to you and not to all members; and the duration is for a full year from the moment you take it out, in those of your federation you only have coverage from the moment you become a member until 31 December of the current year (or a specific date), so if you become a member after 1 January you pay for the full year although you will not enjoy it in full. So that you can compare them, click on the link that corresponds to your federation and it will show you the coverage in the same format as the Cyclist Insurance:
